Céline by Phoebe Philo Spring 2013 Top
This deconstructed silk top from Céline’s Spring 2013 collection exemplifies Phoebe Philo’s refined yet experimental approach. It was seen on the runway and in the season's campaign where it was worn by Daria Werbowy (and shot by Juergen Teller). Under Philo’s direction, Céline became synonymous with intellectual minimalism, and this piece embodies the sculptural ease that defined her vision.
This top is tailored from a thick, off-white silk that pools like poured cream against the body. The ruffles create a silhouette that feels both organic and deliberate. The neckline is the focal point: multiple layers of silk gather to form a raised collar that gently spills and cascades down the front, parting towards the hem. Pale pink silk trims the internal seams and there are raw hems at the armholes and along the bottom hem. It fastens with a concealed tonal zip fastening at the back of the neck.
