Emporio Armani Spring 2004 Skirt

This party-ready mini-skirt is from Emporio Armani’s Spring 2004 runway. Emporio Armani serves as the youthful diffusion line within Giorgio Armani’s fashion house, retaining the precision tailoring and luxury materials the brand is known for, but with a relaxed, sport-inflected sensibility. It is embellished with rows of black bugle beads, forming horizontal striping with a light-catching finish. Each line of beadwork is individually set, giving the skirt weight and movement.

At the waist, a contrasting band of vibrant green knit provides a sporty flash of colour. These unexpected, graphic hits of colour defined the season. Vogue wrote at the time, “The Emporio Armani Spring collection is essentially a briefer, perkier version of what Giorgio Armani showed for his main label… It came as something of a surprise when the collection switched to a fluorescent palette.” It is lined with black crepe and has a louche, pull-on silhouette with no fastenings.
