Christian Dior by Raf Simons Fall 2014 Dress

This elegant dress is from Raf Simons’s Pre-Fall 2014 collection for Christian Dior. Simons’s tenure at the house was defined by a radical rethinking of Dior’s codes. Vogue praised the "T-shirt-ness of the eveningwear", going on to write "That's the essence of Raf Simons: the search for new meanings in a recontextualization of the familiar. It's a quest that is working odd, exciting wonders at Dior."

Tailored from the softest, thick creamy cashmere, the top section cuts a clean, asymmetric silhouette across one shoulder. Beneath, a long veil of black silk tulle drops to the ankle, falling in an irregular hemline with gentle movement. It fastens under the left arm with a hidden zip and hook-and-eye. Both sections are unlined. A highly wearable piece from one of Dior’s most intellectually rich periods.
