Miu Miu Fall 2014 Skirt

This metallic mini-skirt dates to Miu Miu's Fall 2014 collection. The piece is crafted from a baby pink, silver and bronze brocade - woven from Lurex, wool and mohair and quilted to create texture and volume - that shimmers mint green with movement. Originally shown on the runway as part of a dress and across coats and jackets, it was later produced in mini-skirt form for stores. Tailored to a very mini length, the skirt has a stiff, cocooning shape with a high-waistband. It is lined with stone-hued satin. It fastens at the left hip with a hidden peach zip and hook-and-eye clasp.

As Vogue noted, the models "exploded into quilted brocades that looked to have Lurex running through them". Prada herself described the collection with characteristic irony: “Normality is weird.” The show was presented inside the Palais d’Iéna, - transformed with scaffolding to echo the collection’s clash of utility and opulence - and paired windbreakers with metallic brocade, raincoats with glitter.
