Miu Miu Spring 2013 Coat

£1,095.00

This dark khaki-green silk coat from Miu Miu’s Spring 2013 collection was the final look of the show. Crafted from purposefully crumpled silk with dramatic black tie-dye detailing, the coat merges utility and luxury. Its kimono-like gaping sleeves, gently curved collar, and one-oversize-fits-all silhouette evoke a sense of ease, while Miu Miu's meticulous construction is revealed beneath the casual exterior.

On the runway, the coat was styled with latex on supermodel Karen Elson. As Vogue wrote, “This was a workwear femme fatale, with a hands-on dishabille wardrobe... evening coats that were oversize, creased, and crumpled - this time in that characteristic duchesse satin - were given the same tie-dyed treatment, almost appearing like massive stains.” This coat is a symbol of Miuccia Prada’s genius for finding beauty in contradiction.

Tailored from a thick Italian silk, it has an oversized fit with wide, cropped sleeves. There are two flap pockets - cleverly tie-dyed to blend with the detail on the front. Under the shawl collar, the coat is slightly gathered, encouraging a cocooning silhouette. The black tie-dye forms a circle on the front, mirrored by the purposeful creases that radiate from its centre. It fastens with hidden silk-covered snap closures. Will fit a wide range of sizes.
