Lanvin Fall 2007 Cream Ruffle Top

This cream silk top is from Alber Elbaz’s Fall 2007 collection for Lanvin, where it was modelled by supermodel Coco Rocha. Cut with a high neckline and sleeveless silhouette, the piece features a sculptural bib-like ruffle across the front.

The design evokes what Elbaz did best: transforming something simple - a napkin tucked in a collar to protect your silk shirt from spaghetti - into an object of beauty. As Vogue noted, “its true ingenuity can only be appreciated in front of a mirror in a changing room. And that, really, is how Alber Elbaz likes to speak to women - rather than from the lofty vantage point of the runway.” The front is finished with an exposed zipper. It is unlined.
